Parliament Adopted the Law Aimed at Improving the Special Forfeiture Institution and the Management of Seized Assets

On February 18, 2016, Parliament adopted the Law “On Amending the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes of Ukraine Relating the Implementation of Recommendations Found in the Sixth European Commission Report on the Status of Ukraine’s Implementation of the Plan of Actions for the European Union’s Visa Regime Liberalization for Ukraine, Concerning Improvements in the Property Seizure Procedures and the Special Forfeiture Institution” and the Law “On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Relating the Implementation of Recommendations Found in the Sixth European Commission Report on the Status of Ukraine’s Implementation of the Plan of Actions for the European Union’s Visa Regime Liberalization for Ukraine, Concerning the Improvements in Principles of Organization of the National Agency of Ukraine for for Detection, Search, and Management of Assets Received from Corruption and Other Crimes”. The Laws have introduced legislative amendments with regards to procedures for property seizure, ARMA’s management of assets, and use of special forfeiture.
